George Shingler Obtains Rule 11 Sanctions for Guardian Ad Litem

In January 2015, George Shingler obtained dismissal of federal civil rights claims filed against a court-appointed guardian ad litem, as well as an award of attorneys fees under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11.  The guardian ad litem community is ecstatic over the district court's observation that “Guardians ad litem are appointed to represent the child’s best interests.  They serve an important purpose to both the child and the court—and they should not be punished for their service by being subject to lawsuits brought by disgruntled litigants.”  The order states that the court sanctioned "Plaintiff in this case to deter him and other similarly situated plaintiffs from naming guardians ad litem in baseless lawsuits." The case is Northern District of Georgia Civil Action No. 1:14-CV-00890-RWS.

Joyce Gist Lewis Selected for Georgia Trend Legal Elite 2014

Shingler Lewis Receives Certification from Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council
